About Me

Hello!
If you're here and reading this, then you've stumbled across my latest of many projects, so welcome! For those who don't already know me, I'm Alexandria, the person behind the screen that runs this blog as well as any other social media accounts with my name on them.

As of right now, I am a senior in college at the University of North Texas, I will graduate with an English degree with a specialization in creative writing. I am working towards an M.Ed. in Higher Education so that I can become a college advisor/counselor. Very excited to see where that goes, I can't think of anything better than helping others achieve their dreams.

I have a dedicated interest in writing stories, something with depth and heart, which I feel has been sorely lacking as of late. There are several projects that I have in the pipeline, feel free to ask me about them! This will mainly be a place for me to go on about the books I read but also a place to talk about my own writing. I'm also going to start sharing more nonfiction and poetry pieces here, challenging myself to share some more personal things I've been working on.

To try and briefly summarize myself, I am a mid-twenties something, still trying to figure out how to adult and not letting anything stop me. I've faced almost seemingly insurmountable odds to get where I am now, growing up I was diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of eight and spent eleven years having multiple seizures every day and none of the dreams I had ever felt like possibilities for me. In December of 2013, I had brain surgery and was cured of my seizures but left with a disability in my right leg that I will have for the rest of my life. I won't ever tell you it was easy or that suddenly my life was perfect, but so many doors I have never even hoped would open were now spots of light in the distance. Things that I didn't think I would ever do, driving, going off to college, getting a real job, leaving the country, and having the confidence in myself to even say all of this, all of these things are now real and a huge part of my life. So in a way, I want this blog to be my way of not only telling my story but as a fun encouragement to anyone who needs it. Life is hard, but there is always a better day coming even if the dawn has been hidden for years.

Now for a bit of trivial nonsense. I am a cat person, I like dogs but cats are my spirit animal, and I love them more than I could ever express.  Moving on, I am a huge Anglophile, so British history, poetry, literature, and TV will always dominate my list of favorite things. I have an extensive collection of books, both antique and modern as reading is a passion of mine. Breaking down films is a hobby of mine, everything from the makeup and costumes, filmography and soundtrack, and of course the script! I love movies and the magic of the silver screen, so I plan on writing movie reviews going forward.

I'm really excited about this blog, and I know that it'll be a crazy fun journey over the next few years and I can't wait to see where it leads.

So welcome to the crazy journey this is sure to be, thanks for coming along!

Alexandria ~
